Mary's husband, Isaac Hunt (a lawyer), came out strong against those who fought with the British for the independence of the American colonies, and consequently left America in 1775. It wasn't for another two years that Mary and her children were able to join him in England. Which is where they permanently settled.

Robert Shewell

Birth:1704 Marriage:???? Death: Father of above Stephen Shewell

Mother was Mary Seagers. Father was Walter Shewell.

Born 2nd Dec 1704 in Painswick Gloucestershire. Married an Elizabeth Barton.

Robert Shewell had arrived in America from Gloucestershire on the 7th June 1722 along with his two brothers Walter and Thomas. Robert was a successful shipping merchant. Robert and his brother Walter bought adjoining land in Bucks County which together covered 500 acres. Upon Roberts death Walter built Painswick Hall, which is still there today. Robert's brother Walter served as a soldier in the New Britain unit of Bucks County Associates in the Revolutionary War.
